In May 2016 the night before the amalgamation of Canterbury and Bankstown Councils, councillors voted to approve the mass up zoning of East Hills to Padstow for 13,250 apartments in blocks of flats up to 12 stories.
This will result in a doubling of the population from approximately 30,000 to over 60,000 representing a significant financial windfall for developers. A number of parks have been rezoned including Ray McCormack Reserve.
This quiet little green space behind the YMCA in Revesby has been rezoned for a 6 story block of flats.
Carl Little Reserve in which Padstow Library is nestled has been rezoned for 8 stories. These plans are currently with the NSW Government awaiting final approval.
