This will result in the closure of the Bankstown Line. The current heavy rail service is to be replaced by an inferior cattle class, single story, driverless metro incompatible with the rest of the network.

Construction is likely to take 5 to 10 years during which time commuters will be forced to use buses or travel to the East Hills/Airport Line leading to overcrowding and a traffic and parking nightmare.

This project represents the first stage of the privatisation of Sydney’s rail network and is unfortunately enthusiastically supported by Canterbury Bankstown Council.
