In the lead up to the 2019 NSW election, as part of the campaign for the seat of East Hills, the state Government committed $1.3B for a new Bankstown Hospital. To date no location has been decided. The ideal site is the Bankstown Trotting Club in Condell Park. Centrally located within the East Hills electorate there is the potential to access the new hospital from the M5 by constructing an elevated road in the proximity of Violet Street crossing over Milperra Road. At a minimum of 10 hectares, this location could be expanded up to 40 Hectares or more to create a large modern public hospital with associated community services including an Ambulance Station
This location has the potential for the creation of extensive green spaces based on ecologically sustainable principles such as rewilding with locally native bushland.
Free parking would be an integral part of this project. I have engaged in consultation with hospital management, senior orthopaedic staff and other health professionals regarding this project and intend to seek dollar for dollar funding from the Commonwealth to achieve a target budget of $2.6B.
